The allegations announced today by Attorney General Kris Mayes are deeply concerning and should matter to every Arizonan.
Having spent my career in healthcare, I’ve seen firsthand how important these programs are to the people and families who depend on them for care and support every day. While taxpayers deserve accountability for how their dollars are spent, we should never lose sight of the people whose lives are affected when the system fails.
The charges of Medicaid fraud, exploitation of vulnerable adults, unlicensed medical practice, and other abuses are especially troubling because they suggest resources intended for care may have been diverted away from those who need them most. When that happens, trust in our healthcare system is weakened, and the consequences can be felt by individuals, families, and communities across Arizona.
The focus now should be on solutions. As governor, I will work with leaders from both parties to strengthen oversight and ensure taxpayer dollars reach the people they are intended to serve. This isn’t about politics. It’s about protecting Arizonans, restoring trust, and building a system that works better for everyone.
